blog 13 夏休み

私は来学期に日本に行くから、この夏休みに授業を受けることになっている。それに、六月ロスーに行って、インターンシップすると、UCLAでまた授業を受ける。だから、この夏休みは忙しくなると思うけど、早く卒業するためになるべく勉強したのほうがいい。ところが、夏休みにロスーに行けると、新しい友達を作れる、楽しみにしてる。そして、授業を終わったら、すぐ中国に戻る。でも、その前に韓国と香港に旅行に行くから、夏休みに苦らしいことあっても、友達と旅行に行けると思い出したら、もっと頑張るかもしれない。とりあえず、まず夏休みの授業を受けて、中国に戻って、日本に行ける。私の人生は素晴らしいと思う。

We decided to compare the population of people who study abroad in Japan, America and China. I searched some information on the Internet and I found out that it was not too difficult to find the related news, data or graphs. Furthermore, I think three countries share something in common which is that people prefer to go to English spoken country rather than other countries in which English is not the first language. And then I think the only thing we need to do is to analyze the information that found on the Internet.

This week I gained the knowledge of Japanese religion which is kind of unique Japanese culture. In japan, people regard religion as a part of their life and most of Japanese have religious conscious in their daily life. At the same time, Japanese people easy to embrace the new religion brought from foreign country, such as Christianity. The reason is because in Japanese shinto, they believe in various Gods in different fields.
日本人は何か苦しいことがあったら、神様とか仏様に祈ります。家の中で、多分神棚と仏壇のどちらも置いてあって、朝も夜も両方の神様に祈る。他に、色々な宗教の行事もある。例えば、正月には「初詣」といって、人々は神社やお寺にお参りに行き、お守りとかお札をもらう。日本の伝統的な行事だけじゃなくて、キリストのクリスマスという行事も祝う。だって、日本の神道は多神教だから、色々な宗教が共に存在する。多神教と言えば、日本では昔から海や山や木など神様がいると考えられてきた。そして、日本の神道は中国の道教と同じで、多神教のである。実は日本人は宗教を強く信じているという意識は無くても、宗教的習慣と行事を大切にしている。
１）波平はかつおのお父さんです。
２）サザエはつかおのお姉さんです。
３）日本の家族で女より男の地位がおほうが上です。
４）The house looks like a Japanese house.
５）皆が桜の木のそばに座って、桜を見ながら、食べて、話す。
６）お年寄りは上の席に座って、他のメンバーは周りの席に座る。
７）花見は日本の伝統的なとユニークな行事だと思う。桜の花は日本のシンボルだので、そいう美しい花を見たら、心も単純になれる。それだけじゃなくて、家族にとって、花見はとても大切な日だと思う。花を見ながら、家族と一緒に食べて、話すということは世界で最も幸せなことと思う。

I think because it was the week before the spring break, I was too busy to study every tests that I had. So that I was absent from the class on Tuesday. On Thursday, Aaron and I finished our dialogue which was made up by Aaron but I just fixed a little bit afterwards. I appreciated that he made the major part of the story which I liked it. And also I learned some Japanese tongue twist which sounds funny but still hard to talk fast.

春休み

春休みにトッドとフリちゃんとニックさん一緒にアーミッシュカントリーに行たが、一人で行かなかってよかった。ところが、あそこでほとんど何もないし、変な人もいっぱいいたから、ちょっと怖いと思う。アーミッシュ人と言えば、彼らは電気とか車なんて使わないという人達です。でも、予想以外に普通な人間と同じで電気など現代のテクも使ってる。それで、失望した。

I feel like I have too much task that I have to compelete this week and I need to start thinking about writing my Japanese essay. First, I already decided my topic that discusses important friendship and the relationship between friends. In my opion, I learned a lot from Japanese anime and manga about the substances and precious emotion between friends, so that I cherrish my friends more than anyone else. However, I'm still a little bit confused that how I should develop my essay in a creative way so I need more time to think about it.
Furthermore, I did practice the conversation with Aaron and actually he is the person who came up with the idea and I appraciated him. I hope we can do a good job in the class on Thursday.

This week I practiced the dialogue with other classmate in the class but I couldn't stop laughing somehow. Although I did practice the dialogue before the class, I still have problems to say it fluently. So I think I should practice more with my friends rather than only by myself.
a) I read the again.
b) I think I want to talk about Japanese spirit not only in sports, but also in their daily life. Such as the spirit in manga, it influences people in various ways.
c) Such as in One Piece, whenever they have any problems and difficulties in their life, they won't give up and will work together with their friends. I think the spirit of them that I should learn from. So if I was in that situation, I think I will choose the same way as them because I know I can't succeed without my friend's help sometimes. And the perspective of life's value in China is similar to Japan, so I think it is the connection to people in these two countries.

This week I learned a Japanese song which is really suitable for children, and I think it is cute. Actually. I would like to learn language through listening songs because it is a better way to learn for me. When I'm listening to the song, I will look at the lyrics and think about the meaning of song. And then I can learn new grammar and words while I'm thinking about the meaning.

I learned lots of new grammar in this week which I think it contains a couple of important grammar points. Such as ～に違いない means certainly or be sure to. It can be used when I want to express my opinions that I intend to inform other people with a sure tone. Therefore, I can stress my point to others in some situation such as argument. Through the study this week, especially after finishing the grammar sheet, I felt I've already learned a large amount of grammar this semester. However, I feel like that I didn't use all of them frequently. So I hope I can use them as much as possible, no matter writing or speaking.

カリサとポーシャのビデオは温泉についてのストーリーです。ポーシャは日本で温泉に行きたいから、カリサにいい所を聞きました。温泉と言えば、日本の九州は温泉で有名だから、カリサは九州に行ったほうがいいと言いました。
For women's story, there is a girl put chocolate in the person's closet who she likes. But the person she likes didn't notice that, so the chocolate was is the closet for one month. And another girl thought valentine's day is Feburary 15th.
For man's story, there is a man didn't realize that day was valentine's day, so he went to convience store to buy chocolate, everyone looks at him sympathyly. And another guy who is really sick on that day, but others thought he doesn't like valentine's day.

This week, I think coming up our own conversation is helpful to understand and use grammar. I can use vocabulary and grammar that I learned before, as well as I can make up my own story with my casual speaking style. However, I think I still have to make sure I use the correct speech level while talking to different people.
The story of Carrisa's team is between two friends. One girl is asking the other about going to hot spring, so she asked where does she think is the best place to go. The other girl said Kyushu has the better hot spring in Japan. And then the girl thanked her, maybe she will go to Kyushu for hot spring.
このビデオはバレンタインについてのストーリーです。バレンタインの時、爽子はみんなにチョコレートを作ってあけました。爽子は風早のこといつも好きだけど、恥ずかしいから、どうやって風早にあげようかなやんでいました。実は、風早も爽子のチョコレートをもらいたい。でも、誰にも言えませんでした。最後に爽子は風早にチョコレーをあげると決めたけど、別の女の子は風早にチョコレーをあげていることを見たから、結局あげれなかった。

This week I learned the meaning of sports in Japan. The most important thing about the sports is not just to win the game, but also to develop the spirits and behaviors in the life. It's similar to China because Chinese sports are also focus on the substances of sports. Moreover, after I did the robot project, I think it is a good way to be creative and to improve critical thinking. At the same time, I can learn Japanese by creating my own story or sentences with using grammar and vocabulary that I learned before.
アメリカで優先席は必要があると思います。優先席は年上人や妊娠している女や身体障害者などのために、バスとか電車が便利な席であるということです。例えば、赤ちゃんを持っている人がバスに乗ってきたら、すぐに立って席を譲はずです。ここいう人はバスや電車に乗った後に、すぐ座られるように、普通に優先席はドアのそばにあります。だから、アメリカのバスで優先席があるなら、生活は便利になると思います。

The interesting thing to do this week was to make a robot and applied the creative functions to it. Moreover, I learned new kanji and grammar which is sometimes confused me. For example, both うちに and 間に　mean something happens while something happened. However, the meaning is slightly different. うちに　can be negative while　間に can't be.

日本では、若い人だけじゃなくでスポーツが好きが、子供からお年寄りまでスポーツがすきです。それに、日本人はスポーツを見るということは好きです。日本では試合で勝つことが大切だけど、人間として成長することに関係もあるが、同じ大切だと考えられています。日本のスポーツは礼儀と言うことも大切です。柔道とか剣道など、まず「礼に始まり礼に終わる」と言うことは大切です。しかし、アメリカで試合の時、そういうことをしないが、試合の前に相手に挨拶します。

This week I learned that actually not all katagana words are from English words, and there are three different kinds of katagana words. It may means different from the original English words. And I just came to the class on Thursday so I don't think I have to too many problems this week.

カタガナ語には、短縮形とか元の英語の意味と違う意味とか和製英語があります。プリントは日本語でhand outです。スマートはskinnyという意味です。

ビデオの感想

日本で成人式は日本人としてとても大きい式典です。各地の成人式で大人になる人は全国では１２４万人そうです。横浜は全国では最も大きい式典で、約２万人が参加します。今年は約３万４０００人が新成人になりました。千葉で新成人はミッキーから祝をもらて、楽しかったと思います。熊本市の市長はAKB48の曲を歌った、かわいかったと思います。それに、新成人は立派な大人になりたいと言いました。

Reflection 01

In the first week of this semester, I learned lots of new grammar which I haven't grab every point of grammar yet. I have some confusion about the difference between ～になる and ～になってきます because they both mean something becomes to... So I think I need to practice more with these two grammar point. Moreover, the reading part in this chapter is about robot in Japan which I am really interested in. I saw tons of news on TV about robot in Japan already and I think some of those robots can help humans a lot whether in daily life or production.

冬休み

冬休みにニューヨークに行く、いろいろなことをしました。ニューヨークはケントーよりすごく大きい都市だから、おいしい食事としてあります。毎日中国の料理の他にラーメンと焼く肉も食べたけど、高かったので、たくさんお金を払うことになりました。でも最近あまり運動しないし、たくさん食べたし、ちょっと太ってきました。それに、私は五年間ずっと長い髪をキプして、変わったほうがいいと思ってので、髪を短く切りました。冬休みは終わったけど、自分の人生をよく考えました。私は生きている間に、なるべく旅行にいくようにしたいです。それから、一生懸命働いて、もっとお金を貯めたほうがいいと思います。

Reflection 13

By doing the peer review for essay, I felt a little bit hassle to do that at the first time. However, the result turned out to be a good opportunity to learn new grammar and vocabulary. With reading classmate's essay, I can learn from them because I may do not know something that they know better than me as well as I can learn from their writing style. Nevertheless, I think I still need more practice to review other's essay because there are still many grammar and words that I am not familiar with.

Reflection 12

In the class on Tuesday, I gained knowledge of writing essay in Japanese. I wrote essay about my experience at college in the US which is quite different from Chinese universities. The biggest challenge for me to finish essay is that I had to finish by the end of class so that it forced me to think quicker than when I write essay after class. Although I think did not write a really bad essay, I still need more time to practice with using grammars that I just learned. And then, I will think about my topic that relates to Japan and also I want to make it more interesting.
